Despite their claims to the contrary, YouTube does not uniformly allow blocking channels or getting videos out of the recommender. For instance, the Roku interface to YouTube does not allow channel blocking at all, and down votes don't stop videos appearing. So the claim they allow that control is not fully true.
And don't get me started on their hate-filled recommendations.
