When is #Akregator going to be able to convert RSS articles to easy to read formatting instead of basically just loading the website?
Earlier today, #ProtonDoc went #down for a while (while ProtonDrive, and ProtonMail still worked fine) none of my documents were able to load in any of my #Firefox profiles. I got tired of constantly switching to a tab to check the status, so I decided to give #RSS a try. I downloaded and used an RSS feed reader for the first time. I am now using #KDE #Akregator
It is a pretty good RSS reader. The #Ubuntu 24.04 #Debian package is a little buggy. It doesn't have a program icon, and cannot be launched as an application outside of the terminal. It also constantly spits errors into the terminal. Other than this, it works fine on my #System76 Darter pro laptop.
ProtonDoc later came back up, #Proton never mentioned the outage, and I was able to access my document.
I have been making some small accomplishments today :)
@popey #akregator from the @kde #kontact suite. Cannot live without it.

I'm happy that I was succesful in convincing both the maintainers of Akregator and RSSGuard to add support for the "feed:" protocol to their apps. This helps websites providing links for feeds that really end up in the feed reader a Linux user has installed.

#akregator #rssguard #rss

The KDE folks have already merged a fix for the help issue. 👍

Akregator seems to have gone nuts on my feeds though, and is reloading all of the articles, no matter how old.

I also wish it would remember sort order and that I only want to view unread articles.

On to the next one, I guess.

Current Akregator can't find its help though: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=507808

And the docs that are available are (I think) for the 5.x version, rather than the current 6.x: https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/akregator/akregator/configuration.html

KDE's docs being out of date for Plasma 6 is a problem I keep running into. Great opportunity for potential tech writers to develop a portfolio of work…

Akregator (the official? KDE feed reader) loaded my feeds and folders successfully and quickly!

There was a weird UI bug where it also temporarily created empty feed entries, one per imported feed. These went away when I fetched articles (or when I re-arranged the folders).

Since I'm running KDE anyway, I'll give this a go for a bit and see how well it works day-to-day.

#Akregator no va mal. Ha sido capaz de descargar 7819 entradas nuevas sin despeinarse.
The application #Akregator is the only RSS reader that can display individual RSS messages from different feeds in succession without requiring the user to switch between feeds— a true unique feature to quickly browse the news. This allows me to read the news similarly to a magazine or newspaper. Keep on the good work. #KDE thumbs up.
