African soccer’s governing body has announced a raft of “changes and improvements” to its statutes and regulations as it deals with the fallout from a contentious Africa Cup of Nations final. Patrice Motsepe, the president of the Confederation of African Football, says structural, legal and administrative reforms will help regain trust in its impartiality and ensure scenes from the final in January are never repeated. The outcome of that final is still in dispute after CAF stripped Senegal of the title two months later and awarded it to host nation Morocco. Also, Véron Mosengo-Omba has stepped down after five years as CAF general secretary. Motsepe confirmed the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will go ahead in Morocco as initially planned.
