They really tried to rebrand themselves from the "necessary evil legacy mainframe" to something supposedly "always open, always secure"
And then immediately provision me an 8 character case insensitive password, I mean I might know the reason is RACF but if you are attracting "new talent" they just see it as terrible security practice.
And w.r.t. always open, 3 hours in I have yet to see a single web-ready API like they are teaching me in https://www.ibm.com/community/z/talent/essentials/ , it is almost like they themselves are not that confident in shipping a z/OS native service (by their own words "always secure") to the internet.
They have an API call ordering mini-quiz inside which I am not authorized to reproduce, but if you click in any developer with reasonable experience they would feel this is exactly how not to design a high volume transactional system (checking for the inventory, confirming the order and then updating the inventory, huh?
).
