Siri, what do sore losers look like? #YesOnK
Prop K passing is the silver lining in an otherwise dreadful sea of election results - both because I think it’s the right decision and because the No on K people were so damned annoying about it. #YesOnK https://sfstandard.com/2024/11/14/great-highway-closure-next-steps/
Prop. K passed, closing the Great Highway to cars. So, uh, now what?

SF voted to turn the central section of the Great Highway into Ocean Beach Park. But the controversial ballot measure said nothing about funding or a timeline. So what happens next?

The San Francisco Standard

I've always been terrified of playing public pianos. I mean, mostly because I haven't regularly played since middle school and don't know how to play anything anymore, so pretty good reason imo.

I just saw that there's a new one over at Ocean Beach Park off Noriega so I took the plunge and just started clumsily plunking out an old song from Mario 2 I used to play a decade ago, and it was actually super fun! A kind woman started chatting me up about how she was also getting into piano too and was inspired by hearing me trying to remember how to play while in public.

The vibes here are so good. #YesOnK

Prop K opponents are always like "nobody goes there in the fog" "there's already open space at the beach" but look here's everybody in the fog on the paved area with an empty beach. different surfaces are good for different occasions! more space for people is good! #YesOnK!!

The SF Estuary Institute just released a comprehensive report evaluating the different options on the table for cars on the the Great Highway, and environmental impact of each. Spoiler, "closing the roadway to cars entirely has the greatest and most immediate ecological benefits".*

Outstanding analysis and opinion piece by @braitsch on the financial benefits of converting Upper Great Highway into a 24/7 oceanfront park (@GreatHighwayPark / @oceanbeachpark)👏❤️

Converting Upper Great Highway into a 24/7 oceanfront park will benefit all people, businesses and—critically—the environment. #YesOnK

Opinion | Turning the Great Highway into a park will reap millions for business

The city's walkers and rollers won't be the only beneficiaries of a permanent highway closure. Nearby businesses will see a spending windfall.
