NSD 4.13.0 is now available. The most prominent new feature of our authoritative #DNS server is support for AF_XDP sockets. With zero-copy disabled, we see a 1.7x improvement in handled queries per second compared to UDP through the network stack. We expect the improvement to be higher with a driver that fully supports AF_XDP zero-copy mode. Here's the latest SARS-CoV-2 variant picture for India where further samples were shared during the week, to late May.

It now shows the XFG.* is dominant at 65%, with some competition from a late FLiRT sub-variant.

Here's the latest SARS-CoV-2 variant picture for India, revealing a novel environment.

The new XFP recombinant was dominant in late April, but seems to have faded lately under challenges from XFG.* and a late FLiRT sub-variant.

XFP is the latest recombinant variant to be classified and incredibly it is the third of a recent set of recombinants with identical spike mutations. The earlier ones were XFJ and XFM.

I think of them as the "Doppelgängers". Note this is not an agreed variant nickname, nor should it be. There doesn’t seem to be anything stopping other sets of variants or recombinants from ending up the same way, as multiple Doppelgänger packs.

Also note their non-Spike mutations do vary. But the Spike proteins of SARS-CoV-2 are the focus of much study and explain the success of most variants.
