La trama di XCOM è minima. Le scene cinematiche sono poche. I dialoghi sono scarsi. I personaggi sono archetipi funzionali. Eppure, la serie strategica di MicroProse e Firaxis vanta alcuni dei momenti drammatici più scioccanti, tesi e memorabili nella storia dei giochi per PC. Questo è ciò che rende speciale XCOM. È tutto basato sulla meccanica, ma dalle sue tattiche a turni e combattimenti meticolosamente progettati, inevitabilmente si ottengono interpretazioni personali di sacrificio, sconfitta e vittoria – ognuno ha quel soldato XCOM, quella missione da incubo, dal destino avverso. That said - "Monsters in the Dark" is a book that's high on my list to read this year.
It chronicles the legendary journey of Julian Gollop and the creation of X-COM.
