I'm gearing up to start my revision pass on WARBOTS and just came across this line that I'm particluarly proud of:

"Are you calling to offer your surrender? Lay down arms now and maybe the Guild won’t shove a spit up your ass and turn you like a rotisserie.”

"Forensic accountants with guns, an oligarch’s worst nightmare."

#PennedPossibilities 701. MC POV: What is freedom to you?

Having control over the decisions that affect my life, and the means to actually act on those decisions.

Both of which I had before - more than most people.

Neither of which I have now - or am likely to ever have again.

#WordWeavers 9. MC POV: Whose advice do you value the most?

In this new world... Manayka. He's roughly a grad student, while Atosho's a full 'professor.' Still, Atosho's a woman. A woman from *this* world. I don't think she's equipped to really understand what I'm going through, y'know?

Honestly, I'm not sure Manayka is, either. Yet he knows a fuck of a lot more about how to live as a male in this culture, and I kinda *need* to learn that stuff.

#WritersCoffeeClub 8. Talk about something you wrote and later removed, and why.

Several chapters devoted to the first day Jim lands in the new timeline. (TBF, it's a big day.)

Pacing that was tricky. I had a section that was in stream-of-consciousness style as he moved through a neighborhood. I loved it, and intended it to help the reader understand his thought process... but it had to go to keep the story moving.

#PennedPossibilities 681. Let’s talk about your current WIP. Although it of course depends on your genre, do you have an antagonist or an evil villain?

I have a few characters that are definitely antagonistic toward the MC, but the main Big Bad is the world itself. Even his *allies* frequently give him trouble, just because of the huge cultural disconnect.

The more he integrates into the local milieu, though, the more direct, active opposition he'll be facing.

#WordWeavers 18 How money-savvy is your MC?

In our world? He's privileged enough to be able to pursue graduate school all the way to a PhD.

In the new timeline? He's not even sure they ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 money.

#TimeTravelAuthors 15: How complicated is your time travel?

It takes a nuclear plant and billions in special technology to generate enough power to move individual photons around. (The designer eventually figures out how to move roughly a grain of sand... so long as you're cool with a nuclear meltdown and maybe an explosion or two.)

Jim doesn't understand how it actually works... at all. Which becomes a major problem once the machine gets hijacked.
