@paulhellyer "Because it is in the coalition agreement" has carried more weight than any other moral, ethical, legal or judicial argument with these selfish sorted people. #WorstGovernmentEver
Something seriously wrong with our Prime Minister's creativity. Instead of bigotry of his own he copies Shane Jones' homework.

I read that our PM is studying Ronald Reagan as a leadership model. Reagan famously won a huge landslide second term in 1984. Guess he can dream, even if he can't lead. #NZPol #WorstGovernmentEver

The Murdoch press is banging on again about the “worst government ever”. No surprise there — but we don’t need to dig too far back to find a real contender. The Morrison government takes that crown by a country mile. Here's why:

Secrecy and Scandal
Morrison quietly swore himself into five extra ministries without telling the public or even his own cabinet.
Add in the sports and car park rorts, where public money was splashed around marginal seats like Monopoly cash.
And let’s not forget Robodebt: an illegal, automated cruelty that drove some to despair and led to a royal commission.

Climate Denial and Delay
He literally brought a lump of coal into parliament.
While fires and floods worsened, his government blocked real action on renewables and dragged its feet internationally.
At global climate talks? Sometimes he didn’t even bother showing up.

COVID Bungling
“It’s not a race,” he said — as the vaccine rollout stalled and the country locked down longer than it needed to.
And when things went wrong, he pointed fingers at the states instead of taking responsibility.

Corruption and Control
Promised a federal ICAC — never delivered.
Presided over raids on journalists and a creeping culture of secrecy.
Public broadcasters and key institutions were politicised and muzzled.

Wedge Politics and Division
Ran culture wars on everything from gender to Australia Day.
Kept the far-right sweet while banging on about “quiet Australians”.

Call that leadership? That wasn’t a government, it was a slow-motion train wreck in a smirk.

I had forgotten that Brooke van Velden said this: "When it came to COVID, we completely blew out what the value of a life was, completely, I’ve never seen such a high value on life.” One of those people who knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Sooner we get these people out of our government the better. #NZPol #WorstGovernmentEver
So today we learn that submissions on the Regulatory Standards Bill will not be read by human beings but by a bot. As NRT asserts, this is "giving the finger to democracy." Add that to the fact that my last submission on the Treaty Princiles Bill was not read at all and my faith in the process is coming under considerable strain. We need an election.

Giving the finger to democracy

So, the same day Rimmer is insulting the public by claiming everyone who disagrees with him is a bot , the Finance and Expenditure Committee...

@dimsie.bsky.social And here's me thinking that empathy might be the vital component of people skills. #NZPol #WorstGovernmentEver

I don't think I've ever seen a more blatant upward wealth transfer scheme than today's budget. They are literally taking money out of people's kiwisavers to fund profit making businesses.

@lin
David Seymour is very good at saying out loud what his allies might think should be left unsaid. "Saving the budget" is a good example, but his comments on the Regulatory Standards Bill are in a class of their own. He dismisses thousands of submissions as not containing worthwhile ideas when they have not even been read by anyone. What an insult to those who wish to take part in the democratic process! The consultation was entitled "Have Your Say..."
