I ordered a new work laptop on Monday. No shipping information for three days.
I arrive to the office this morning to see it will delivered at home (as I asked, since I work from home 4 days/week) today. The one day I work from the office (not even the closest one), and have client meetings.

(because text doesn't reflect the sarcasm properly, read that in the most sarcastic tone you can, and then dial up to at least 20x that)
Our department is working on standardizing symbols for drawings. A couple of local colleagues are in charge of generating the input so that non local colleagues can implement it in the software we use.
I am now reviewing the output based on what my local colleagues consider reviewed and approved input ready for final implementation.
So far I have found
- inconsistent order of languages
- missing translations
- wrong translations
- wrong use of apostrophes
- not knowing the difference between load (demand) and capacity (delivery)
- inconsistent use of terms
- acronyms not matching the spelled out term
And I'm not even done with 1/6th of the document

Things I have to keep teaching coworkers
- basic word use (using formats is hard, mmkay, so is using spell check)
- basic excel use (and: if you search for how to do stuff in your search engine of choice (not AI / LLM) you'll get tutorials that show you how to do it and why)
- how to use the planning assistant in Outlook
- message then call, otherwise I won't pick up
- send a full message with question(s) or information. I won't answer to hello.
- want to have guaranteed time to talk to me: plan a fucking meeting
And yet, most people are useless at basic office skills.
I am invited to a meeting (long standing) from 1300 to 1700 (don't ask, I know 4h meetings are not efficient)
Day before, at 1700, it gets updated to 1430 to 1830. I work til 1600 so only see in the morning.
Then at 1415 the same day it gets moved to 1500 to 1700.
What the actual fuck.

My Belgian engineers have been complaining about my Romanian engineers and designers delivering crap plans.
I am reviewing plans made by Belgian designers and engineers, supposedly reviewed by the lead engineer, and I am just sending them back with so many issues.
As the design manager for the project, I cannot let such pile of steaming shit go out, not even for a work in progress, still to be fully coordinated design.
There is some clashes and issues, and then there is not looking at all at what other people are doing, not loading a structural model to see where structural elements are, and not giving a fuck about consistency.

Omg we reinvented the gantt chart to estimate how manu hours a project will take!
Omg we reinvented how to update cost estimates based on old prices plus inflation (instead of just calling our cost managers, that is part of their work)
I had to look the translation up, because the issue with speaking several languages is that sometimes the more appropriate word (both in sound, description and connotations) only appears to exist in one language.
I am so fed up with architects (of the designing buildings kind) being such chapuzas (bunglers) in their job and just doing some extremely shoddy work.
