Once the funding had been agreed the ground works was started and a level base was established for two shipping containers.

We had the containers delivered to the site and then @suearcher and I got the steel work done ready for the living green roof to go on.
The containers had to be square and level with each other.

The photos show how the containers were opened up to make a larger space.
We cut away the facing sides and welded them back on to join the containers together.

Once we got the steelwork to roof height, the rest of the #WorkingInWood group started on the timber framing so that the living green roof could be installed.

Later the shipping containers were insulated and clad in timber, and rainwater collection added. Then the group added a clear roof over the outdoor area in front of the workshop doors.

Today (so far)
I put the laundry in the washing machine,
The carpeted a board for Mum's bed.
Went to vacuum the church,
Then polished the organ (not a euphemism).
I moved MiL's table parts,
Out into the sun.
The finish isn't curing in time,
Hoping the heat will help.
Screwed the board to Mum's bedside,
It will stop her falling down the wall gap.
Aerosol primed and painted some plywood board,
For the #WorkingInWood art.
Assembled MiL's garden table,
And put it in the back of the car.
Sanded and aerosol painted some wooden letters,
They will spell 'Working In Wood'.
Sorted out the dry laundry,
And packed my bag.
Got 'Alfred friendly' food in a chill bag,
And my laptop bag ready to go.
When Sue is ready we'll set off,
For a long drive down to Leicester for the weekend.

See you all on the other side.

(Just getting the # tags in.)

Q3: @MakersHour

What other ways do you use to keep in touch with the Maker or creative community?

A3: I think mostly here, but also I am in a WhatsApp (yeah, I know) group for Repair Cafe folks in Greater Manchester we share chat, and knowledge that helps with the #RepairCafe stuff that comes up.

I am also still with the #WorkingInWood community woodwork group that I helped set up way back in 2017, and we meet up on Thursday mornings at the Community Workshop.
Then there is the Miniatures group that meets up in the evening on the second Monday of the month.

@Cathybug @suearcher
Yes. I used to spend Thursday mornings writing while at #WorkingInWood, watching the rest of the group doing woodwork.
But since we have been building the #CommunityWorkshop I haven't been able to write during that time.

Deciding to write while you and Sue are chatting will buy me that time back.

Today we went to the #CommunityWorkshop,
With ladders and nail gun.
Installed Shiplap cladding,
With #WorkingInWood group.
Tidied up the rubbish,
And then lunch.
At home I sewed a curtain,
And made a curtain pole.
To hide next door's strobing outside light,
From Dad's bedroom window
Did caretaking,
And had a meeting with my stand in line manager.
Did laundry,
And made beds.
Then dinner with parents.
Watched YouTube,
And a bit of TV.
Tired now,
Night all.
Today we went to #IncredibleEducation,
To work on the #CommunityWorkshop.
We adjusted the fit of a door,
While the #WorkingInWood group put up shiplap cladding.
I was on the phone for an hour,
Trying to change an #NHS appointment.
Got nowhere on the phone,
Not easy being a #Carer.
Then went to Machine Mart,
To pick up a #Garage tent.
Stashed it in the trailer,
Before going to do caretaking.
Had dinner with parents,
And back to a cold house.
#CentralHeating not working,
Brrrrrr!!!!!
Night all.
