Please use your office to amplify the cost this Republican Administration is about to incur with the Medicaid work requirements.

Starting in 2027, most adults who seek Medicaid coverage must first show they are working, taking classes or performing community service at least 80 hours a month.

Georgia just started this process and reported that from FY 2021 through the 2Q of 2025, they spent $54.2 mil in administrative spending and $26.2 mil on health care. This money comes mostly from the federal government, which means it is my tax dollars paying for it.

In Georgia, an estimated 246,365 adults are eligible for this healthcare, but as of this spring, only 6,514 adults enrolled, according to the Georgia Dept of Community Health (an administrative cost of $8300 per person enrolled).

As Georgia did, states will spend federal taxpayer money on corporate and IT consultants to set up their verification systems, taking taxpayer money that should go toward healthcare and putting it in the hands of private corporations.

This is one of the worst uses of taxpayer dollars I can think of

Get rid of this vast, expensive, unnecessary requirement for Medicaid coverage. There are better, cheaper ways to root out fraud in Medicaid.

The deepest cuts to #healthcare spending come from a proposed #Medicaid #WorkRequirement, which would cut off #coverage for millions of enrollees who do not meet new employment or reporting standards.

In 40 states & DC, all of which have expanded Medicaid under the #ACA, some Medicaid enrollees would have to regularly file paperwork proving that they are working, volunteering, or attending school at least 80 hours a month or that they qualify for an exemption, such as caring for a young child.

1:1 Labor Exchanges?

This is what I was ruminating on when I couldn't get back to sleep at OMFGo'clock.

What if people with Medicaid who aren't currently employed *hire each other at equal salaries for 20 hrs/week? It would be a huge pain in the ass, but would it work to keep (some) disabled people from losing their coverage?

I know some of the folks it wouldn't work for: those too poor to make it feasible, those without the spoons to deal with the additional hoop-jumping. But could this work for anyone?

Boosts and input appreciated.

“New HHS promotional materials fea- tured videos of people explaining how the ACA had harmed them.”

“People will be required to upload the necessary docs mentation to verify their [#WorkRequirement] activities. But 30 percent of low-income adults most likely to be on Medicaid report they never use a computer, 28 percent say they do not use the internet, and 41 percent do not use email”
