Please can everyone stop using the term 'leftist'. Particularly and especially can people on the left stop using it.

Instead use words like 'socialist', 'communist' or 'anarchist' to correctly describe an individual's or a group's political and social views. Those words are unambiguous and descriptive. They have both meaning and power which was conferred to them over hundreds of years.

This word is a neologism coined by the neo-liberals and fascists as a derogatory term used to label 'people we hate' and 'people we will murder'. Its a meaningless word that has been given meaning and power for the wrong reasons by the wrong people.

Take that small amount of power away from the neo-liberals and fascists by refusing to use the word. You don't use the n-word and other similar word with similar meanings like the k-word around the world. All of these are words coined by oppressors to label the people they are brutalising and murdering. So don't use this new word of oppression created and used by oppressors either.

This article in the Guardian, which in theory should know better, prompted this mini-rant.

In actual fact, located just a few miles from the M74, and just 80 miles from Glasgow 🤨 But yeah .... you stick to "remote" if that works for you.
