Today I learned, from the afore-mentioned John McPhee, the term #demonym. I also learned that, as a resident of #Massachusetts, I can refer to myself either as a “Massachusettsan” or a “Bay Stater” (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_demonyms_for_US_states_and_territories). I’ll be practicing the pronunciation of “Massachusettsan.” Living in #Boston, I’m also a simple and straightforward Bostonian. But if I lived in Manchester, McPhee tells me I could refer to myself as a “Mancunian.” That’s almost worth the move. #WordForTheDay
