Those women who are trying to make the right healthcare choices for themselves are suddenly finding that they’re criminals under the barbaric abortion laws being enacted by the #republicans in red states. It’s time to restore #abortion rights and #womensfreedom

I keep coming back to this conversation I had with a man last Wednesday. He told me he bought 5 acres in Idaho because he couldn't pass it up. It has lake frontage and it already has utility services. Sounds like a great deal, right?

Then he added, "But, I'll always maintain a Washington address because I have a wife and a daughter."

Damn.

"While these restrictions appear to violate the US Constitution — which protects a person’s right to #travel — they are extremely difficult to challenge in court, said Mary Ziegler, a #law professor... who focuses on abortion. Because the laws can be enforced by any private citizen, #abortion rights groups have no clear #government official to sue in a case seeking to block the law."

Highways are the next antiabortion target. One Texas town is resisting.

A new ordinance, passed in several jurisdictions and under consideration elsewhere, aims to stop people from using local roads to drive someone out of state for an abortion

The Washington Post

"These provisions have already passed in two counties and two cities, creating legal risk for those traveling on major highways including Interstate 20 and Route 84, which head toward #NewMexico, where #abortion remains #legal and new clinics have opened to accommodate #Texas women. Several more jurisdictions are expected to vote on the measure in the coming weeks."

"ordinances like the one proposed in #Llano... make it illegal to transport anyone to get an abortion on roads within the city or county limits...

Antiabortion advocates... are targeting regions along #interstates and in areas with #airports, with the goal of blocking off the main arteries out of #Texas and keeping pregnant #women hemmed within the confines of their antiabortion state."
