"From #Finland to #Ukraine, through #Estonia, #Latvia, #Lithuania, and #Poland, a protective shield of landmines is descending across #Europe — a defensive barrier against the terrorism of the #Russian_Federation."*

#Poland’s lower house of parliament, the #Sejm, has passed a bill to withdraw from the #Ottawa_Convention, which bans the use, production, stockpiling, and transfer of anti-personnel landmines.

The poem has become a symbol of the resilience, dignity, and strength of anyone who faces insurmountable odds.

In a speech to the House of Commons in 1941 , #Winston_Churchill paraphrased the last two lines of the poem to lift the nation's spirits in the midst of #World_War_II: "We are still the masters of our destiny. We are still the captains of our souls."

#Nelson_Mandela turned to poetry during his imprisonment.

If the problem is not resolved now, the world community will have to face the consequences of aggression again in the very near future.

Appeasement of aggressors in the past has only led to new and larger conflicts.

A month and a half before the #Munich Agreement, which effectively handed #Czechoslovakia over to #Hitler, #Winston_Churchill wrote the following in a letter to #David_Lloyd_George:

To everyone who still doubts whether to provide #Ukraine with all the weapons and munitions we need, I'd like to remind you of a quote attributed to #Winston_Churchill:

"You were given the choice between war and shame. You chose shame, and you will have war."

It's very simple: if #Ukraine doesn't get the #Patriot systems we need, #Russian missiles and glide bombs will get closer to you. They are advancing, and they do not intend to stop unless they are stopped.
