📚🌟 This week, the preschoolers have been learning about Windrush ahead of Windrush Day, today, via the incredible story of "Coming to England" by Dame Floella Benjamin. It's so important for children to learn about the contributions of the Windrush generation, even from a young age.

In an awkward photo by the Bristol #GreenParty a group of white supporters were photographed in front of a mural to mark #WindrushDay
After a lot of negative comments they removed the photo.
There are several things going on here.
Is it bad for white people to mark #Windrush day?
Are #black people under-represented in the Green Party?
Was this a clumsy mistake?
They have policies on inclusion, but It does tend to be predominantly white people, with exceptions:

Today on #WindrushDay, we celebrate and honour the successes of the Windrush generation who have contributed to British society.
It is also important to reflect on the injustices many have faced at the hands of this Government.

Happy Windrush day! 75 years ago, the Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury, bringing around 800 people from the Caribbean to the UK. They and their descendants have had an enormous and positive impact on Britain (and been treated appallingly by the Government). We should be thankful to them all.
And of course, I'm going to mark this with a video of the great calypsonian Lord Kitchener singing aboard the Windrush on that day.

The disbandment of the teams tasked with preventing the Windrush scandal from happening again is particularly concerning considering that the Home Office has yet to fulfil the 30 reform promises.
The decision sends a disturbing message to those affected by the Windrush scandal and to migrant and refugee communities in general.
As we commemorate the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush in Britain, the Home Office has disbanded the unit created to reform the department after the Windrush scandal.
Justice for the Windrush generation must be carried out! #Windrush75 #WindrushDay
Open Rights Group has responded to a Guardian report that the Home Office has “quietly disbanded” the unit created to reform the department after the Windrush scandal, which saw thousands of people from Commonwealth countries incorrectly classified as illegal immigrants.
