Mastodon, necesito vuestra recomendación: Estoy buscando un reproductor de música para Windows tipo Windows Media, pero que reproduzca sin ningún problema todo tipo de FLAC (Windows Media no puede en algunos casos). Algunas cosas que me gustaría que tuviera:

1 - Que sea relativamente ligero y fácil de usar.
2 - Que permita organizar una "biblioteca de música".
3 - Que sea software libre y gratuito (que si me decís todos que Winamp es una maravilla, pues ok, pero si hay alternativas, mejor).
4 - Que no sea VLC. A ver, es lo que estoy usando porque sí reproduce música en FLAC, pero no me gusta porque no cumple con los dos primeros puntos o al menos yo no consigo que los cumpla.

tl;dr - we're currently trialling WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project) Preview v1.99.21.20088 x86, and we're very happy with it so far.

It has a few glitches with old Classic Pro skins, but in the meantime we're using a skin called Big Bento Modern - Windows 10 edition v1.2.3.

Our highly-neurospicy brain would like to be able to go back to Classic Pro Bento 1.15, but considering you can completely configure all the colours for it, we can live with the slightly different interface.

Today we've tried:

• AIMP - got really annoyed with its interface really quickly  
• Audacious - better experience than AIMP, but couldn't make it look and function like Winamp or load newer Winamp skins 😞

We tried to find a way to set up each like how we use Winamp, and couldn't get

Those exhausted us and made us rage quit trying new ones for the day 😅

We've still got to test:

• XMPlay
• Strawberry
• WACUP
• Foobar2000
• MusicBee

Why is it so difficult to find another music player that lets you do layouts like this Winamp? 🥺

So far, WACUP is looking like the next one we'll try, as it looks to be basically Winamp with bug fixes.

The time has finally come. We are looking for a suitable equivalent to Winamp (5.9.0)  

We did briefly try 5.9.2, but it broke lots of stuff, so... yeah 😞

We don't want to stop using Winamp, but it doesn't play nicely with PersistentWindows (which we have to use, as Windows 10 is an arsehat), will randomly crash, and won't allow us to put dates as anything other than YYYY 😭

The date matters because occasionally artists more than one album in the same year, so we need at least YYYY-MM  

We originally stayed with Winamp for:

• the plugins (especially to play music game sound files and to keep the monitoring from sleeping whilst music is playing);
• gapless playback (back when this wasn't something that most players had!!!)
• the dark skins (at a time before dark mode was normal); and
• the simple, easy-to-use layout
  • e.g.,
  • a search bar that searches everything, showing artists on the left, albums on the right, and tracks down the bottom, with customisation options for each;
  • the playlist on the right;
  • the album art above; and
  • the clear controls and song progress.

We're still in AuDHD burnout and we do not have the spoons or executive function right now to go on another deep dive.

So, could someone just recommend us a modern alternative that's Windows 10 compatible, ideally free and open source (but willing to pay if it's good), has dark mode, and can ideally stop monitors from going to sleep whilst songs are playing  

For further context, the player we use on our Android phone is PowerAmp and our entire music collection is in FLAC.
