Searching through auld photographs this morning. Didn't find what I wanted, but found this pic of a minke whale washed up on Uisken beach in Mull (? summer 1988?). You can see the digger in the background digging a burial trench. For a long while I was nervous of walking there, for fear of sinking into fermenting whale below 😱 . But nothing ever happened. I still often wonder how the bones are preserved (or not) below the sand as I walk over them...🤔
