My visibility system for #WayBeyondGame is a bit tangled so I've been revising it. Entities only have 2 related flags (visible/discovered) but there are a few aspects that complicate drawing. I had to reframe how I think about the system to be able to simplify the code. #GameDev
Half the fun of #gamedev is all the weird stuff you see as you slowly build things up. Here I’m doing the scaffolding for sending data to my shader on a per-sprite basis. It’s working!! #WayBeyondGame
On today’s #WayBeyondGame stream we’ve improved the interaction mechanic a bit so that players have to press a use action when they’re near items to pick them up instead of walking over them. And now items with passive effects show up in the player’s hand :) #screenshotsaturday

Last week we made a torch! Today I'm making sure it's displayed when the player is holding it, then I'm prototyping a new pickup mechanic. Maybe we'll also have time for a fancy new item!
