We're in our 60s so we just wasted 2 hours trying to:

1. Renew my expired WWVP online (nothing has changed) ⛔
Name on birth certificate is slightly different from usage name PLUS married PLUS no drivers licence PLUS no passport

2. Apply for husband's WWVP online ⛔
No ImmiCard as he came here with parents as a child on their id document PLUS no passport

Ugh! Off to Access Canberra to get it sorted (hopefully).

*WWVP couldn't help - says it's an ACT Digital problem.

**Access Canberra help-line hung up on me as help-line not available.

***Can't update our ACT digital id verification levels either.

****Also can't download the forms to fill in beforehand anymore - you have to line up and ask for it at the counter and THEN fill them in with all the required info!

Charging volunteers to get a Working With Vulnerable People card seems counter-intuitive on many levels to creating a better society - which surely is the fundamental role of governments.

The ACT Government are trying to wrestle the territory budget back under control and to find a way to pay for the multi-billion dollar tram and, as a result, we've seen a number of measures such as this one.

The Greens are pushing back and have started a parliamentary petition. I've signed and I think you should too - whether you're a volunteer or just support volunteering in general.
