- How viable is it to selfhost NOT on a VPS, but a home server?
Been thinking of various ways to invite people over to fedi, and I know akkoma/Misskey (& forks) aren't for everyone, my snac will have limited users, and I'm not planning on adding Mastodon (I already tried, it kinda sucked, didn't enjoy it. idk.) Wafrn seems okay-ish, but it's still a young projects so I wanna get more info before I settle.

Dione MaddernI don't think I can get my own instance up and running right now for financial reasons ( I really need to cut costs right now). But honestly, #Wafrn is my favorite social media app, jank and all.
I wish I had the coding skills to make a #WordPress plugin for it.

Dione MaddernI’m going to use #Wordpress as my main account for now, but I’m probably going to cross-post to #Wafrn too. I went with WordPress/Friends because it was easier and cheaper (I’d have had to pay for a VPS), but I really like being able to talk to people in the #Fediverse and #Bluesky at the same time.

cloudskaterMight as well run a Wafrn instance instead, since is communicates with BSky and the Fediverse and has a strict no-AI policy. If you hosted a BSky instance, you'd be running decently slopcoded software, unfortunately.
