33 years ago today, Keith Haring shared his completed campus mural to our community as part of the second annual AIDS Awareness Day. The event, which has evolved into #WorldAIDSDay and #DayWithoutArt, carries a special meaning at ArtCenter —
"December 1 has been designated a national day of action and mourning in response to the AIDS crisis. It is the second annual AIDS Awareness Day sponsored by the World Health Organization.

HIV is treatable, but we must advocate for our patients first and foremost. Advocate with respect to access to affordable treatments and prevention. Advocate to decrease stigma and discrimination, because stigma kills and prevents access to healthcare. Advocate for LGBT+, BIPOC, women, and all historically neglected populations with respect to HIV.
