The discomforts of disability advocacy

It was a Sunday morning and I was at the ABC offices for the filming of Insiders. I work on the production team as a researcher. That week, the minister for Government Services, Bill Shorten, was a guest and I had been helping with the interview preparation. Although my role doesn’t usually involve meeting guests, as someone with lived experience of disability and a vested interest in his policies, my colleagues offered to introduce me to him.
