Just got a call from the fuckers in Amsterdam (VUMC) whether they need to keep me on their waiting list. I told them that I’m essentially through the entire process (no thanks to them), and should now be put on Radboud’s surgery waiting-list any day now and that they can remove me from theirs, since I prefer to work with psytrans. (Maybe I should have said “because unlike for you, I do have some trust into those people…”)

I did ask them where in the waiting list they are currently and was told that they are now dealing with people who were referred to them in 2020…

I also asked about the #progesterone study that they should really have published already, but the person who called me claimed to not really know anything about, go figure…

In case anyone is wondering where the #progesterone study of the #VUMC can be found: Despite their protocol having been accepted over a year ago, they seemingly still haven’t published their results…

Now, the last tests they want to run are supposed to happen 1 year after starting, so I’m not yet calling for torches and pitchforks, it takes a while to actually start testing and you need to write the actual paper, and…

But my patience is very much on borrowed time… If they are not done by the time I have my next endo-appointment, I will assume that the results were that their E-levels are too low and that Prog works in desirable way, going back to DIY, because I’m past the point of not assuming malice with these folks…

Addition of progesterone to feminizing gender-affirming hormone therapy in transgender individuals for breast development: a randomized controlled trial - BMC Pharmacology and Toxicology

Background Feminizing gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) for transgender individuals traditionally includes estradiol and androgen deprivation. Research has demonstrated that breast size as a result of GAHT in transgender women is often limited. Therefore, transgender women often choose to undergo breast augmentation surgery. Progesterone is important for breast development in cisgender women during puberty. A potential role for progesterone in breast development in transgender women has not been investigated in a randomized controlled experimental set-up. The primary objective of this study is to explore the effects on breast volume of addition of oral progesterone to GAHT with estradiol in transgender women after vaginoplasty or orchiectomy. Secondary objectives include assessment of safety, satisfaction, mood, sleep and sexual pleasure. Methods This is a non-blinded, non-placebo, randomized controlled trial using a factorial design in adult transgender individuals assigned male sex at birth who have undergone GAHT for at least one year and underwent vaginoplasty or orchiectomy. The study design allows for rapid assessment of potential synergistic effects of various dose combinations of estradiol and progesterone on breast volume change: Ninety participants will be randomized into six groups of 15 subjects each, receiving either the baseline dose of estradiol, the baseline dose of estradiol and progesterone 200 mg daily, the baseline dose of estradiol and progesterone 400 mg daily, twice the baseline dose of estradiol, twice the baseline dose of estradiol and progesterone 200 mg daily or twice the baseline dose of estradiol and progesterone 400 mg daily, all for a duration of 12 months. The main study parameters include changes in breast volume as determined by 3D measurements. Participants will be followed-up with laboratory testing including serum progesterone concentrations as well as surveys for satisfaction, mood, sleep quality and sexual pleasure. Discussion This study will indicate whether progesterone is safe and of additional value with regard to breast volume change in transgender individuals receiving feminizing GAHT. The results of this study will be useful for innovation of feminizing GAHT. In a baffling move, Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam) is welcoming Hilary Cass, amongst other notorious anti-trans activists. This is especially concerning as their Medical Center, VUMC, is one of the largest trans clinics in the country — a mandatory step to get your HRT and surgeries, with a lot of gatekeeping involved.

All around the country, more than 20 radical trans organisations decided to answer with an open letter, press release and call to action, at the initiative of Principle17, Trans in Eigen Hand and Trans Zorg Nu. As Transfem Haarlem, the organisation I founded, we are also a part of this.

You can help by spreading the word around: friends, families, other LGBT-organisations, and to the media. Even if you're not living in the Netherlands, we need to get the word to spread everywhere, including in international media, as Hilary Cass is an international anti-trans figure, and VU is kinda hoping that it'll go under the radar, with the passive help of Dutch media.

De conferentie van donderdag 27 juni vindt plaats onder auspiciën van het Amsterdams Centrum voor Familierecht, opgericht door de Vrije Universiteit. Enkele keynote speakers hebben banden met haatzaaiende anti-transgender organisaties, die op deze conferentie een breed platform krijgen - zonder kritisch weerwoord. ‘Gevaarlijk!’ waarschuwen de belangenorganisaties, ‘want misinformatie is niet zonder consequenties.’ Bovenaan het programma staat de Britse keynote speaker Hilary Cass. In april 2024 opende zij de aanval op de Britse transgenderzorg voor jongeren met de publicatie van het omstreden Cass Review. Cass beweerde dat de zorg voor transgender jongeren niet wetenschappelijk onderbouwd zou zijn. Maar haar rapport kreeg direct brede internationale kritiek. Ze had volgens experts in dit vakgebied namelijk selectief geshopt uit wetenschappelijke studies, positieve bewijzen waren genegeerd en ze had verregaande conclusies getrokken die niet uit de beschikbare data waren af te leiden. Kortom, het rapport hield wetenschappelijk geen stand. Toch gebruikte de Britse overheid dit uiterst controversiële rapport om de transgenderzorg voor jongeren in Groot-Brittannië stil te leggen. Waarschuwingen van medisch professionals en belangenorganisaties dat jongeren ernstig zouden lijden door het ontbreken van zorg, werden in de wind geslagen. Ook andere sprekers van de conferentie zijn zeer omstreden. De Finse psychiater Riittakerttu Kaltiala is onder andere betrokken bij de organisaties SEGM en Genspect, die als doel hebben om transgenderzorg in te perken. Beide organisaties worden door de internationale medische gemeenschap niet erkend wegens het gebrek aan wetenschappelijk bewijs voor hun claims. Verschillende gezaghebbende instanties, waaronder het Southern Poverty Law Center, beschouwen beide organisaties als haatgroepen. [Vervolg in comment]"

Dawn Pollard said Friday on social media that the new heart her husband received was a perfect fit for his 6-foot-11, 260-pound body. She wrote Saturday that his breathing tube had been removed and Pollard was cracking jokes and singing. Scot Pollard turned 49 on Monday. He needed a transplant because of a genetic condition that was likely triggered by a virus he caught in 2021. Pollard’s size complicated efforts to find a donor with a heart big enough to fit his large body. He was admitted to intensive care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Feb. 7.
