Vorige maand publiceerde Het Parool een uitgebreid onderzoek naar het wangedrag van U., die drie jaar lang studenten en medewerkers op de universiteit teisterde met intimidatie en geweld – met name vrouwen, mensen van kleur en lhbtq’s. Studenten die zich meldden bij de Vrije Universiteit, konden niet rekenen op steun.

De VSP is intussen op vier van de vijf universiteiten waar het actief was, opgeheven. Deze week werd bekend dat het ook op de thuisbasis Vrije Universiteit niet meedoet aan de studentenraadsverkiezingen. Volgens de VSP komt dat door de ‘ernstige bedreiging van onze leden, waaronder expliciete bedreigingen met fysiek geweld en de dood’.
De Vrije Universiteit zegt ‘niet bekend te zijn’ met de vervolging en kan donderdagmiddag niet inhoudelijk reageren op vragen.
