Very pleased to see this open letter from my union branch to the general secretary regarding the ongoing dispute with, and vitriol towards, our union staff: https://glasgow.web.ucu.org.uk/2025/04/11/open-letter-to-ucu-gs-on-ongoing-dispute-with-ucu-unite/

Open Letter to UCU GS on Ongoing Dispute with UCU Unite

We write to convey the UCU Glasgow branch’s deep concern over the continuing failure to resolve the dispute with UCU Unite, as a result of which you have forced them to commence another round of industrial action to defend their working conditions.In our own disputes, we often endure public attacks

University of Glasgow UCU

This is properly grim.

@UniteUCU
, the #union representing staff who work for @ucu unite, is once again escalating a dispute with UCU over the poor treatment they have recieved from UCU.

This is on the heals of a HSE finding that UCU is breaking health and safty law on stress management in its staff.

Seems that any attempt to discuss this at NEC is being block in action reminicent of the way SMTs try to silence academic senates.

Unite UCU (@UniteUCU) on X

Our employer refuses to rescind their unexpected recognition of another union for a management grade. We declared a dispute in June as this breached our existing recognition agreement. It is now clear that the general secretary & the NEC are directly entwined in the dispute. 1/8

Our request to extend the contracts to allow for further talks was refused.

Unite again expressed our willingness to engage in further consultation so as to avoid our members’ redundancies.

It's 19 working days until the first #PGRsAsStaff redundancy.

After considerable delay we've now met with the employer over the two #PGRsAsStaff redundancies.

Unfortunately we were simply told the project is ending. Although we were also told there will be a smaller and as yet undefined role to take the project forward. 🤔

Update:
Unfortunately we must today report that our employer has breached our recognition agreement. This states Unite is the sole trade union with representative rights for all staff in our workplace.

We are now being supported by Unite London & Eastern region
