One of the actions he was part of had scientists enter a BMW showroom. There, some glued to a luxury car, while other scientists sprayed black paint and pasted scientific papers to cars. In this action, scientists exposed BMW's aggressive greenwashing and lobbying to continue business as usual despite the imperative to decarbonise transport immediately.

Six Scientists have pasted posters on the @bmdv building with declarations by past governments to phase out fossil fuel subsidies, a promise constantly and neglectfully postponed. #HowMuchMore broken promises will we witness? All of them have been arrested by the police. Fighting against climate failure is criminalised, whilst continued profiteering of the #FossilMadness is subsidised. 🤯
Additionally, 100 Scientists 🥼 marched and protested 📣 against #ClimateFailure. Again and again the government failed at delivering results and excelled at delaying the phase out of fossil fuel subsidies.
The coalition contract states: "We want to gain additional budgetary leeway by reducing superfluous, ineffective and environmentally and climate-damaging subsidies and expenditure in the budget." – BUT:
Aviation is shamefully subsidised by tax-free kerosene and VAT-free international flights with 12.4 billion euros a year. 🤯
Highly inefficient and resource-intensive individual transportation 🚗🚗🚗 without fuel-saving speed limitation is promoted over transitioning to a climate-neutral public transportation system 🚎.

Since 2009 at the G20 meeting, German governments have repetitively pledged to phase out fossil and environmentally damaging subsidies. Germany still spends 65 billion euros in environmentally harmful subsidies each year!
