Winding down for the night. I came down with a case of bronchitis yesterday and ended up in urgent care. Still recovering from it but at least my bed is comfy (if unmade because Spockles won’t move lol)

sibling and i unloaded/loaded the dishwasher, washed the counters, they did the handwash dishes, i cleaned the stovetop and front(!) and i took a bunch of dirty kitchen towels and put them in the washing machine AND started the load! #ufyh #UnfuckYourHabitat
A mild UFYH that’s actually a big deal - dealt with the shoedrobe in the back closet, got out my tall boots, shook out the boot racks and mopped the floor. It’s not perfect but it’s a damn sight better! The bag on the doorknob remains because that’s my ADHD reset bag. #ufyh #ADHD

I had high hopes for #UnfuckYourHabitat's Get Rid of It challenge last month - and we started off strong, taking a big load of misc housewares to TROSA at the end of the first week! But then I got sucked into the vortex of a major home-repair project, replacing our gutters - and the unexpected morass of damaged fascia, backers, and soffits that unveiled - and by the time we went on vacation with Mom at the end of the month, I had basically written it off as a mostly-missed opportunity. 😕

On the bright side, I was excited to see that this month's Small Projects challenge looks equally inspiring! I use Todoist to capture everything from picayune chores to major project ambitions, and I always have dozens of little "someday" tasks languishing in there. I chose a few of the most neglected and made a new UfYH label for them, to help me keep track...

And last week I managed to:
- clean, descale, and disinfect our bedroom and travel humidifiers
- put the heated mattress pad on the bed
- fix some busted snaps on a pillowcase that I've been ignoring for months
- clean the battery-barf off a small electronic device that had been taking up space in the laundry room for literally years waiting for me to deal with it, so yay for bonus decluttering! 🎉
- clean a ton of scuffs and dings off our garage-entryway walls with Magic Eraser
- get a jump on end-of-year tax planning, which was *exactly* as annoying as I feared it would be, but led to a potentially *much* better solution for 2024 and beyond
- find and triage a bunch of telescope-related optics to decide what to keep and what to give to NCSSM to go with Dad's Dobsonian 🔭

The first half-dozen of which were relatively simple - yay, free dopamine hits! And the telescope optics project led to some wonderful Mastodon conversations and a lovely dinner with friends. So this week I hope to tackle a couple of more complex projects, and just break them down into subtasks that can count as individual small projects if I squint... 😇

Looking at my A1 drawing board and self-healing cutting mat, which I use together to make a small folding table become big enough for sewing at, and wondering whether an art portfolio case for those and my A2 cutting mat would be better than just having them wedged between my chair and my bed. Do sturdy portfolio cases come in nice colours?

I took a break from #UnfuckYourHabitat in August - technically I guess it was a bye, because the challenge was Sink Zero and we've fortunately never had any real difficulty with that.

But I am *definitely* the target audience for the September Get Rid of It challenge! Week 1 is "get rid of N items a day", and I've decided that identifying and packaging up N items a day counts as long as I get them dropped off at the local thrift shop by the end of the week. 😇 And @mbroome is going to play, too!

Currently N is 3, because that seems eminently manageable, but I hope to exceed that as I start excavating the to-donate pile in the basement… 😁

Cleaning my apartment top to bottom today using the Unfuck Your Habitat method of 15 minutes cleaning, then a solid break, then repeat. I owe so much to #ufyh and her shame-free, practical advice.

I've had a bit of an off week - lots of feels around giving away Dad's telescope, and we also (unrelatedly) donated a bunch of furniture to Habitat Restore, so the house just feels a little weird to me right now...

So I picked an easy project for the #UfYH #InvisibleCornersChallenge! 😇 https://www.patreon.com/posts/june-challenge-83958895

The stairs down to our basement are where we stash stuff when we need to pick up in a hurry, and a few of those bits have been there for *years* (as we've walked past them every day). I cleared a step every day this past week, and I think for the coming week I'll tackle the rest of the landing, around the corner.

Finished my #Lego #WomenOfNASA set today! (I've been working on it a few minutes each day, as a reward for getting my daily #UfYH challenge done.)

I am ridiculously happy about this. 🥰 Found it a place of honor at the wall side of my project desk, so it can inspire me…

Wrapping up my month of the #UfYH #FlatSurfaceChallenge

The week 4 prompt was to revisit our previous surfaces and reset them back to clear if they'd accumulated new clutter. Fortunately I didn't have much to do there, so to reward myself for good behavior, I decided to tackle the last section of my office floor. 🙄

This one was possibly the most functionally annoying, since it kept me from sitting at my project desk (which I cleaned off in week 2 😁). I decided I didn't have to empty and organize the two most intimidating boxes - that's part of the next phase, triage - so it wasn't even terribly difficult... Honestly a bit anticlimactic after everything else I've done this month. Not complaining!
