The Dell UltraSharp 32 8K Monitor - UP3218K seems to use panel "LG Display LM315QU1-SSA2" (~US$1,500), for what it is worth:

I should note it is possible the refurbished monitor has a 3-year warranty, not 90 days as reported by 1st-level staff. Due to the holidays I was unable to confirm with the Dell staff they referred me to. Returned it before I could do so, so as to not miss the 30-day return window.

Dell UltraSharp UP3218K at 8K is something to behold 🤩

280 Pixels Per Inch (PPI) 🌟 Colors seem near perfect.

However, the c. 2017-era hardware limits its potential at max specs to 48 Hz. Also, the Dell Outlet refurbished monitor warranty (mine was originally manufactured in Jan 2021) seems limited to default 90 days (?) Had expected 3-year warranty, as when new (they advertise: "Enjoy same-as-new limited hardware warranty"). 🤔 🤷🏼

Dell UltraSharp 32 8K Monitor - UP3218K (2017):

Spent a few weeks with it (used, ~$2,800 refurbished from Dell Outlet). Returned because not 100% sure I have a good use case for it at that price point.

Refresh rate = 48 Hz at 10-bit color depth. Acceptable, but dated.

Powered via Cable Matters Triple Monitor USBC Hub with 3X DisplayPort & 100W Charging (201375). It has DSC & MST, provided by my Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 (AMD).

Dell UltraSharp UP3218K seems limited to 48 Hz refresh rate at max settings, per limits of its dual DisplayPort 1.4 inputs.

Lowering to 8-bit color depth supports 60 Hz.

Detailed calculation:
62.06 Gbit/s data rate required for 7680 × 4320 at 60 Hz and 10 bpc (30 bit/px), RGB 4:4:4, uncompressed.

This exceeds the 51.84 Gbit/s max data rate of its dual, uncompressed DP 1.4 inputs (25.92 Gbit/s × 2).

8k desktop monitors

It seems only 2 with high pixel density, for what it is worth (279 ppi for both):

1) ViewSonic VG3281-8K (2023, 31.5", matte, not globally available yet)

2) Dell UltraSharp UP3218K (2017, 31.5", glossy)

Sharp has already discontinued their 32" 8K model 8M-B32C1 (2021).
