#NintendoSwitch Video: #TurboKid - Does a respectable job of replicating an old-school side-scrolling title, with some modern flair #IndieGames
As for the game itself, I'm quite enjoying it. It's a solid #Metroidvania. I could wish that either the map was a little less sprawling or had a little more variety of enemies and environs, but overall it's a really solid indie game. And the world and story are weird and entertaining, just like the movie.
One warning though, it's over-the-top bloody, albeit all in stylized pixel art. So if that's not your thing it might not be for you. 5/5
So, yeah. Accessibility settings in games. They're nice, even if you technically don't *need* them. 4/N
Overall difficulty settings are nice as far as they go, but they're limited. If I have to choose easy/story mode when I start a new save file, I often feel that it's too easy to blast through the exploration part that I really like. But higher difficulty settings may leave me stalled out at a tough boss battle. I just don't have time to grind through them any more. 2/N
I've been playing through the #TurboKid game on my #SteamDeck, and I've really been impressed with its extensive "Assist Mode" menu of difficulty/accessibility settings.
I've always loved the exploration part of #Metroidvania games, but I'm less of a fan of the precise platforming required by many of them and the steep difficulty spikes of the boss battles. And as my reflexes have aged and free time has dwindled, this has gotten worse. I've had to set some aside because I just stalled out. 1/N
