Get ready to learn French. Quebec announced Thursday that 80 per cent of students from outside the province must learn conversational French by the time they complete their undergraduate studies. Tuition fees are also going up for those students, but not doubling.
It looks like la #CAQ might be starting to backtrack on their plan to essentially eliminate postsecondary school options for anglos in #Quebec, but we need to keep protesting to ensure they backtrack all the way!

It was a good day dropping off winter clothing donations to a local day shelter for homeless folks then dropping by a protest against the proposed #TuitionHike in #Quebec.
The government here wants to double tuition costs for out-of-province students to eliminate Anglophones from living here. It also further promotes the current government's racist and xenophobic platform of making the province more white.
As someone who has dedicated their entire life to learning French, working in French, and living in French, it comes as a senseless punch in the gut. I am never enough for this province despite my abilities and contributions. #FuckLaCAQ & solidarity to all minorities affected by this xenophobic bill.
In an announcement on Friday, Quebec’s minister of higher education, Pascale Déry, said new, out-of-province Canadian students will see their tuition fees double next year — for most that will mean tuition rising from about $9,000 to more than $17,000.
