Treeplanter: PLANT SOME TREES, DAMMIT!!! (real and fake) 🌲🌳
Treeplanter launched in April 2026 on Steam and is a woodland simulation chillout relaxation time of it. You plant trees, grow your environment, and enjoy the soothing landscapes you create.
It’s the work of English indie dev Henry Diver, who has pledged to plant a real tree on farmland for every copy sold. Thus, your gaming time here is doing good for the British environment. Spiffing!
Just Chill The Hell Out in Treeplanter
This is part of the wider cosy game genre of video games that is very popular at the moment. Not a huge surprise cosy titles are in demand given the stress of the modern world.
Treeplanter fits in very neatly as a cheap (it’s £3.99) and beautiful little experience that you can dip in and out of as you please. It’s along the lines of the building game SUMMERHOUSE (2023), but with way more trees.
That’s because the dev is an artist, farmer, and a former teacher. He worked with students (offering them paid employment) to help wrap up the game.
It’s more of an audio-visual experience than anything else, a kind of interactive artistic experience. You arrange stuff onscreen with a wealth of gameplay mechanics, structuring your little woodland area as you see fit, and you toggle weather effects and the like. Behold!
There are loads of features and things to pick from. Once you’ve established your woodland area, the best bit for us is finding the right mood by adjusting the rain, mist, fog, and seasonal attributes. We love autumn (our favourite season), thusly we stuck most things into autumn mode, adding a touch of fog, and hurled in a little bit of rain. The visual style of Treeplanter is gorgeous and makes for a super relaxing time of things.
To go with the planting stuff, there’s a kind of atmospheric, indie music type soundtrack with a female vocalist. Here’s how it all pans out in an extended bit of gameplay footage (WARNING: Hedgehogs make an appearance).
Ultimately, this is a chillout game for creative people to head into and enjoy a bit of mental health support. You plant some trees, you flesh out some ruins, add a touch of fog, and then mix up the sunsets.
Once you’ve got hedgehogs roaming your creative, you can then create a snapshot and, hey ho, this is why cosy games are so popular right now. Bon.
