This evening I attended my very first meeting as a Lusk resident to discuss the "Lusk for Life, Town Centre First Plan 2024-2032" hosted by Fingal County Council

Excited to be part of shaping the town's future, building on such a comprehensive vision. Great discussions tonight with so many local groups contributing, a real sense of a vibrant community. I'm looking forward to much more progress!

Group Mocksim are tasked with solving the problem of Paris’s number one eyesore, the Eifel Tower. 'Form-follows-function’ is crossed with an aesthetic most common in the outer zones of the capital of Europe’s, The ‘United’ Kingdom, namely PEBBLEDASH.

Micheál O'Connell MOCKSIM on Instagram: "Latest: our people have (temporarily) been called away from the old industrial town of Clara, Co. Offaly, Ireland. Embedded in another nearby republic, Group Mocksim are tasked with creating mood-boards and prototypes to solve the problem of Paris’s number one eyesore, the Eifel Tower. The job was never finished but now is the time! The overriding principle has been to combine ‘form-follows-function’ with an aesthetic most common in the outer zones of the capital of Europe’s renegade state, the ‘United’ Kingdom, namely PEBBLEDASH. Rather than the usual corporate architectural fixations on steel, concrete and glass, it is thought that this will create a warmer feel, something more approachable, less austere. In addition, the completed Eifel Tower will double up as familiar housing for the inevitable waves of refugees fleeing that (already tomatoless and eggless) island to the north. Aware of the importance of the current structure as a tourist attraction, and in order to retain that all-important fun-factor, a water slide has been proposed for one side. The slide would be open to visitors, and it is thought that adult-only evenings could be organised to satisfy the traditional love of n a t u r ism, enjoyed by French people right across the political spectrum. Some credits are due to @artistsbookscooperative who involved #mocksim in their Proposals for Paris project (2020), the brainchild of Duncan Wooldridge @anti_foto, in turn ‘inspired by the Situationist’s 1955 text, “Proposals for Rationally Improving the City of Paris”’. Also thanks to Ruby O’Connell-Rogers @rubymay_rogers for her insights on pebbledash, and to Betty O’Connell-Rogers @_bocr_pics for her ground-breaking work with slides. We could say a lot more at this stage but let’s leave it there. Watch this space. ‘What the people are within, the buildings express without.’ #architecture #homedesign #homebuild #homestyle #placemaking #towncentrefirst #15minutecities #healthycities #resilience #neighbourhoods #urbandesign #liveability #situationist #formfollowsfunction #finishthejob #eifel @co_vionnet #pebbledash #paris #london #offaly"
