Grand Union canal towpath. Here the canal enters a tunnel, while the towpath separates, up a slope, through another short tunnel, and then 400 yards later rejoining the canal.Before motors, the narrow boats were propelled through with poles, or with boaters lying on top legging through with feet on the wall. #TowpathTuesday

For #TowpathTuesday this is perhaps my favourite photo of 2025. I was lingering around the first lock on the Wigan Flight as this boat and another one doubled up to head up the hill. It also reminds me I need to take a walk along the canal to do some "gongoozling".
