Roll 19707209, cont.: Riverside County (1970-72)
Continuing this roll of desert scenes just in time for #TLRTuesday.
Roll 19707202: Riverside (ca. 1970)
I've just returned from a two-week visit with family in Illinois and Ohio, bearing nine rolls of 35mm film to develop and process. Also, I'm migrating to a laptop with more storage this weekend. So the #retrobosak series will be proceeding by fits and starts for a while.
Today, for #TLRTuesday, a roll of 6x6 studio test shots with Melanie at our place on Comer Street.
One: Melanie as some sort of ancient Egyptian.

This is from the same roll that I showed a shot from last week. That scene was in full sunlight and seemed to be a perfect match for the Barry Thornton Two-Bath formula. This shrine to St. Jude of the Telephone was in the shade (i.e., flatly lit) at the entrance to an antique mall in Owego, NY. I like the way it finally worked out, but it did take work to recover some separation in the midtones, as was true of other shots on this roll. See alt text.
Jason, a member of our analog film club who knows that I've been playing with D-23, suggested that I try Barry Thornton's Two-Bath (BTTB) formula, which uses a slightly weaker D-23 for the first bath and a 1.2% Kodalk (sodium metaborate) solution for the second. So I got some metaborate and tried it on the current exposed roll of TX. I think it's just about perfect for full sunlight: see this example for #TLRTuesday. But next Tuesday, I'll have more to say about BTTB.

Roll 196769c06: UC Riverside (1967?)
Campus scenes taken at some point (I think early) in the period 1967-1973 with a 6x6 TLR, probably a Rolleicord, probably on Panatomic-X.
I would like to submit these photos as tardy entries in the #TLRTuesday slots that I've missed lately.
One: The Upward Bound building.
I've been reluctant to post anything for #TLRTuesday because I haven't done any 6x6 work yet this year (it's more of a warm-weather thing with me), but I feel bad about it, so here is a pair from 1973. (Mamiya C33; no recorded data)
