I really strongly connect with my #ToontownRewritten character in a way I never did with a character in #ToonTownOnline before. For me, she's just... perfect.

Revisiting #ToontownRewritten has been a blast. 1000+ players online daily – at least for most of a given day, I think the majority of its active players are in the Americas like myself – and so far people have been fantastic! Not bad for a 20+ year old game whose original iteration was killed by its owners.

It’s a real treat experiencing everything thus far. Everything old is new again, and there’s plenty of actually new stuff along the way besides. I’m especially happy that there’s lots of Pride stuff available both on Pride Month itself and in other seasonal collections where appropriate; there’s Pride scarves and a hat in November-December, for example.

Additionally, while I was gone, the developers of this particular fork of the game went out of their way to all but completely decouple a Toon’s initial gender selection from basically everything except what wardrobe and trunk your house gets, which I’m not sure they could change if they wanted to. You can even set your own pronouns regardless of anything else going on with your Toon! None of this would have EVER happened under Disney!

I’m blown away! While ultimately the fundamental gameplay is the same as it’s always been, even though gameplay balance has shifted somewhat in the last 2-4 years – whenever it was that the Under New Management update dropped, I don’t remember – I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that I feel like I’m playing it for the first time all over again.
