Amulet of the Egyptian god Thoth (or Djehuty, to call him by his actual Egyptian name) in his form as a seated baboon, patron deity of scribes.
The crescent and full moon on his head reflect his lunar connection.
Dating from around the New Kingdom, the amulet is only 5.5 cm tall, and is in the collection at Manchester Museum.

Carnelian bead from Egypt carved into the shape of a hyena's head, with that distinctive ridge of fur on its neck. Unprovenanced, sadly, but now in the collection at the Garstang Museum of Archaeology.
Oh, one other thing ... it's literally a centimetre big ... ๐คฏ๐ฌ

Sunday mornings are for ... a bit of relaxed image editing. I've been working on this image of an amulet from the Garstang Museum of #Horus as a #falcon, wearing the double crown of Egypt (the Pschent, or Sekhemty - 'the Two Powerful Ones' - to use the ancient Egyptian name).
The slightly odd, yellow colour is geniune. Looking closely at it, I think it's a yellow faience, which you see less often than the commonly used blue and green #faience.

It's one of the amulets I photographed at Manchester Museum in early December for Tiny Egypt and depicts the god Shu - the air - with his arms up to support the sky.

Today I've been working on one of the images I captured the other week of this fabulous and rather unusual human-headed Bastet at #Manchester Museum for #TinyEgypt.
What you can't see here (because I've zoomed in in Photoshop) is that she has two little kitties sitting by her front legs ๐ฅน
No provenance details right now as the museum's database is ongoing a revamp, so I'm having to wait a little. But it's likely Late Period-ish.
