Look After Annie

Annie Irving, an extreme left-wing preacher - and former flame of Cowley's - becomes the target of a hitman when one of her meetings comes to London. Cowley assigns Bodie and Doyle to protect her, unaware that the would-be hitman is right under his nose.

"Deane walking with me; talking of the pride and corruption of most of his fellow officers of the yard, and which I believe to be true."

Oh, I can feel with Deane. Switch the name of the employer and keep the rest: "pride and corruption of my fellow officers of the university" --- voila, I feel it.

Anthony Deane was a shipwright, acting as a trusted professional to the ambitious administrator Pepys. They were friends, the slightly older Pepys helping to get Deane established.

Deane later was knighted. He was a successful shipbuilder. Pepys and Deane were joint MPs for Harwich twice, in 1678 under Charles II (where both were accused of treason) and in 1685 under James II. They did things!

I can picture these two meritocratic pros walking by the river, talking earnestly, sharing their contempt for all the entitlement and corruption around them.

The Professionals 1x13 "Klansmen" review by RikerDonegal

**Anthony Booth, Edward Judd.** Infamous episode. It was never broadcast by ITV in the UK and only shown once on satellite TV (in 1987). The story concerns a white supremacist group and the murders of Black men. No punches are pulled in terms of the racist language used throughout. The action on the show is usually cool. Not here. Bodie is stabbed early on and spends most of the episode close to death–feverish and raving–in a hospital bed. (Lewis Collins is excellent.) Doyle is badly beaten and spends the final third of the episode covered in his own blood–unable to see out of one eye–and stumbling around while trying to prevent the next death. Bodie’s racist remarks early on are out-of-character. It’s jarring because we’ve never seen this side of him before. It feels false. Something done for shock value. Behind all the controversial stuff, the story itself is bland and obvious. Supposed twists are telegraphed a mile off. That plus the grim tone and the nasty violence make it feel nothing like a typical Professionals episode. The contrast between this and the previous outing (“Close Quarters”) is extraordinary. The best scenes are the ones with Bodie and the nurse (Mary Ann Blyden). Her unwavering compassion, in the face of the things he is calling out, is genuinely heroic. _My 200th TV episode of 2026. Averaging 107 minutes of TV per day._ 6/10

Klansmen

Members of a 'Keep Britain White' group go on the rampage in London, attacking the local black residents in an attempt at forcing them to leave the area...but two of the group members have an ulterior motive. Bodie is left seriously injured whilst Doyle joins the group undercover.

The Professionals 1x07 "Close Quarters" shout by RikerDonegal

**Gabrielle Drake, David Bradley.** Off-duty with an injured hand, Bodie accidentally locates/captures a wanted man. Terrorists give chase. Soon, Bodie + girlfriend + innocents are barricaded in a house in the country for a siege. Fast, violent, exciting. Perfect. Writer: Brian Clemens (The New Avengers, Max Monroe: Loose Cannon). Director: William Brayne (Lightning Force). 10/10
