Just watched "The Editor", a love letter to gialli films that tries a little bit too hard to be funny and doesn't quite know why the giallo tropes work.
And a movie shouldn't need Blu-ray extras to get better but the extras here certainly helped me as it shows much of a DIY project this really was.

This pretty much nails a lot of the giallo tropes with some fun use of lighting, dream logic and, of course, the stoic cop slapping women. We get the fake eyelashes, the weird sex scenes, the Fulci eyes... But it is sadly don't understand WHY all these things are a staple of the genre and just plays it for laughs instead. Every trope they use they just justify with a "because it's funny!". A lot of things that is wonderfully fucked up in real gialli are funny because they were allowed to play out the most insane and wild ideas
