Sembrava che la guerra in Iran stesse per finire. Trump diceva che era ottimista e che la pace stava per venire. Invece adesso è andato su tutte le furie. Ma quello che dice Trump è pazzia o è una tattica negoziale?

Gentile lettore, magari fosse una tattica negoziale. Ho il forte sospetto che invece sia una totale incapacità di capire gli eventi. Non ha abbastanza cervello e cultura politica per capire. Ieri l’Iran ha respinto il piano americano in 14 punti, affermando che non può nemmeno essere discusso perché le richieste sono esorbitanti e che, se l’America vuole discutere, deve negoziare i seguenti punti: cessazione immediata delle ostilità; pagamento dei danni di guerra all’Iran; riconoscimento della sovranità iraniana sullo Stretto di Hormuz; eliminazione delle sanzioni contro l’Iran; e infine la restituzione dei fondi sovrani iraniani che Washington ha sequestrato. A richieste massimaliste, risposte massimaliste. Trump, che ripeto non ha la minima idea di quello che succede intorno a lui, aveva detto avanti ieri: “Penso che per stasera avremo la risposta di Teheran. La pace è vicina”. Dopo aver letto la lettera degli iraniani, Trump ha scritto che la risposta di Teheran “è inaccettabile”. Teheran allora ha fatto sapere che le reazioni di Trump “non hanno alcuna importanza” e che loro “non scrivono piani per compiacere Trump”. Purtroppo l’America si ritrova con un presidente con il cervello di un bambino di 8 anni. Non è mai cresciuto. Non sa cosa fa né cosa farà. Non si rende conto delle sue azioni e per giunta è dominato da un ego straripante. È un disastro planetario.

It seemed as though the war in Iran was about to end. Trump was saying he was optimistic and that peace was about to arrive. Instead, he’s now gone ballistic. But is what Trump says madness or a negotiating tactic?

Dear reader, maybe it’s a negotiating tactic. I have a strong suspicion that instead, it’s a total inability to understand the events. He doesn’t have enough brainpower and political culture to grasp it. Yesterday, Iran rejected the American 14-point plan, stating that it couldn’t even be discussed because the demands are exorbitant and that if America wants to discuss, it must negotiate the following points: immediate cessation of hostilities; payment of war damages to Iran; recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz; removal of sanctions against Iran; and finally, the return of Iran’s sovereign funds that Washington has seized. In response to maximalist demands, there have been maximalist responses. Trump, who, I repeat, has no idea what is happening around him, said “no” yesterday: “I think we’ll have the answer from Tehran tonight. Peace is near.” After reading the Iranians’ letter, Trump wrote that Tehran’s response is “unacceptable.” Tehran then made it clear that Trump’s reactions “have no importance” and that they “don’t write plans to please Trump.” Unfortunately, America finds itself with a president with the brain of an 8-year-old. He has never grown up. He doesn’t know what he’s doing or what he will do. He doesn’t realize the consequences of his actions and, moreover, he’s dominated by an overblown ego. It’s a planetary disaster.
