From the Berks Family Detention Center in Pennsylvania to the Etowah Detention Center in Alabama, the ‘First Ten’ immigration detention centers underscore how ICE’s detention system as a whole is fatally flawed beyond repair.

Action NetworkSign the petition to pass the SHIELD Act. Demand protections for victims of revenge porn.
Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh have been accused by several women of sexual assault. Despite this, Trump, Kavanaugh, and countless other men have kept their jobs—but Congresswoman Katie Hill, who has been the target of a revenge porn campaign, launched by her abusive ex-husband and fueled by hateful far-right operatives, was forced to resign from office this fall.
Nonconsensual pornography, better known as “revenge porn,” is the distribution of sexually explicit or nude images of another person without their consent, and often times, without their knowledge. Revenge porn is an extreme violation of privacy, frequently used to humiliate and shame victims.
Women are 1.7 times more likely to be targets of revenge porn than men. The consequences women face as a result are often much harsher due to sexist double standards. But nonconsensual pornography is more than just a violation of privacy—revenge porn is sexual assault.
While a majority of states—including California, New York, and Texas—have passed laws banning revenge porn, it has yet to be banned on a federal level. Fortunately, the Stopping Harmful Image Exploitation and Limiting Distribution (SHIELD) Act of 2019 has been introduced in both the House and Senate to address the abuse endured by survivors of revenge porn. If passed, the SHIELD Act would make revenge porn illegal at the federal level.
As women, girls, and LGBTQ+ people across the country continue to be the targets of revenge porn, Congress has yet to take action on this important piece of legislation.
That’s why we demand Congressional lawmakers immediately pass the SHIELD Act to protect vulnerable constituents.
Sign the petition: Demand that Congress fight against revenge porn and pass the SHIELD Act now.

Action NetworkSIGN NOW: Congress must investigate Facebook’s role in the right-wing disinformation machine
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has had at least two secret meetings with Donald Trump in the runup to the 2020 election―and the American people need to know what they’re discussing.
It’s up to Congress to get to the bottom of Facebook’s role in the right-wing disinformation machine.
Facebook was at the center of foreign interference in the 2016 election, pushing false stories in front of millions of people.
Since Trump took office, Zuckerberg has talked a big game about protecting its users ahead of the 2020 election. But Facebook’s actions speak louder than his words:
Facebook is allowing ads on its network to contain outright lies1
Facebook is relying on partisan so-called fact-checkers like the Daily Caller and Breitbart.com to flag misleading posts, even though they are some of the worst offenders.2
Facebook’s opaque enforcement measures have indiscriminately punished left-wing organizing while boosting right-wing sites like the Daily Wire3
Accepted more than $1 million per month from the Trump campaign to run false advertisements, including contests that no one wins.4
Facebook has repeatedly allowed hate speech to fester on its platform, in certain cases resulting in its playing an active role in genocide.5
Facebook ads place no parameters on hate speech, allowing parties to target and mobilize groups as violent as “jew haters”.6
In fact, Facebook itself has admitted to “the ugly” truth: that the platform serves to connect people at the expense of everything else; sometimes even at the expense of human lives. 7
We can’t have a fair Presidential election next year if Facebook is putting its thumb on the scale for Republicans. And we can’t afford a repeat of 2016.

For too long, employers have been able to violate the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) with impunity, routinely denying workers our basic right to join with coworkers for fairness on the job. As a result, the collective strength of workers to negotiate for better pay and benefits has eroded and income inequality has reached levels that predate the Great Depression.
Action NetworkSign the petition: Demand the Senate reject Trump’s NOAA Nominee Barry Myers
For a third time, Trump has nominated non-scientist with questionable conduct Barry Myers to head the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA is a critical agency that studies physical science, the atmosphere, and the climate. Myers is not a scientist but a businessman, making him grossly unqualified to head the agency.
Not only is Myers not qualified, he has been on the record calling for the privatization of the National Weather Service, which provides free weather updates to the public and competes with AccuWeather’s business model, highlighting conflict of interest concerns.
In addition to lack of credentials and clear conflict of interest concerns, Myers is mired in sexual assault allegations. His victims allege “widespread sexual harassment,” which prompted a Department of Labor investigation when he was first nominated in 2017.
Now that his nomination has been quickly shuffled through committee and is already up for a Senate floor vote, it is time we tell our Senators that we deserve much better than Barry Myers, an unqualified sexual abuser.
