Texas oyster harvesting season opens Friday with limited harvesting areas
Only 10 of the 28 public oyster harvesting areas along the Texas coast will open up for the start of the season. The slate of closures came after sampling surveys from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department determined oyster reefs have a low abundance of market-size oysters ahead of the season.
