Solicitor #TerryGorry has published an update on the #EnochBurke / #BurkeFamily circus, following the sentencing on Wednesday of Enoch's mammy #MartinaBurke & his sister #AmmiBurke.
The two women were jailed for two weeks for their #ContemptOfCourt on 20th February. It was latest incident in a long line of court disruptions by the Burkes.

Solicitor #TerryGorry gives regular legal analysis of the #EnochBurke case. Today's update explains the powers and possible decisions of the Disciplinary Appeals Panel (#DAP) which met on Saturday.
The crucial point is that the DAP cannot compel any outcome. It can only make non-binding recommendations to the #WilsonsHospital school board, but the board must give due weight to the recommendations.
Burke can seek judicial review, and/or go to an Employment Tribunal.

1/ ongoing civil proceedings against #EnochBurke for #contemptofcourt by defying the #injunction to stay away from the school, where fines are mounting, and cost recovery is incomplete. The school seeks his imprisonment to end the ongoing disruption;
2/ possible seizure of cars used by the #Burkefamily to bring Enoch Burke onto the #WilsonsHospital premises, in breach of the #CivilInjunction;

Background: Burke was a teacher at #WilsonsHospital school. In mid 2022 he objected to the school facilitating #gender transition of a #nonbinary pupil. Burke claimed that being asked to use the pupil's new name & pronoun breached Burke's "religious freedom". He was suspended & later dismissed from his job, not for objecting, but for disruption, esp haranguing the principal at a school ceremony.
