Tenderlonious is Edward Cawthorne, a multi-faceted, versatile, and prolific artist who is an electronic music producer as well as a jazz flutist. His music embraces the relaxed, gentle, soft focus fusion of the '70s and places it in the context of London's contemporary jazz scene. There is also a classic spiritual jazz edge to his sound that came about when he brought in elements of South Asian music into his stylistic repertoire along the way. His 2023 album You Know I Care finds him switching to the saxophone and moving into a hard bop direction. His electronic work may be sonically different from his jazz output, but thematically it operates in the same range, exploring themes of fusion and spirituality, albeit in an ambient adjacent form that leaves some room for his club style beatmaking.
