2/3 This is the UK government's aspirational statement on #TemperateRainforests via #DEFRA. Mentions for deer; mentions for rhododendrons; silent on the grazing pressure exerted by the enormous population of sheep, which needs to be reduced in upland areas. #GuyShrubsole is an effective campaigner, who manages to bring together a range of areas (inc. land ownership reform) & actors capable of protecting & enlarging Britain's #TemperateRainforests. His presence cheers me up -- post Brexit #UKpolitics has been so dismal. His next book will be more directly political than this one, which has functioned as an unusually good calling card on power for a green lefty (the work isn't over ofc). This book is a quick & pleasurable read. #ecology #environment
