Hello Mastodon, I'm in crisis and I need your help.

My name is Ellis (Joan E. Burgos), and I am a trans Latina therapist. I am making an emergency exit from an unsafe and emotionally damaging living situation for my immediate physical and emotional safety.

I have a full career plan: I'm in the final stages of my LPC license application to work as a therapist in Pittsburgh. Some of you may have seen my GoFundMe campaign that successfully put together the funds I needed to get that done! But I've reached a point where my current home environment is taking an unbearable toll, and I must leave now, before I am financially ready.

I am fundraising $8,500 for a 3-month survival and safety buffer. This is my entire cost for:

❇️ Housing Security (Deposit + 1st Month)
❇️ Cross-country moving logistics
❇️ A 3-month living cushion (food, medicine, utilities)
❇️ A small contingency fund for fees & emergencies

This fund is the bridge that gets me from this unsafe place to my new life and my career. By helping me, you are investing in a future trans Latina therapist who will, in turn, spend her life healing and fighting for our community.

Any amount, and especially any boost, means the world. Thank you. 💙

Swansea pair jailed after vehicle theft and Rhymney arrest

A man and woman from Swansea have been sentenced after stealing a vehicle and driving it to Rhymney, Caerphilly, where they were intercepted by police.

Bobbie Kittle, 35, of Townhill, and Anthony Williams, 42, of Llansamlet, broke into a property on Argyle Street, Swansea, at around 2:30am on 9 June, stealing a set of car keys. CCTV footage captured the pair entering the victim’s vehicle and driving away.

The vehicle was later stopped on Upper High Street, Rhymney, following coordinated efforts between South Wales Police, Gwent Police, and aerial support from the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

Detective Inspector Stuart Prendiville, South Wales Police, said:

“This was an example of excellent partnership working between South Wales Police, Gwent and NPAS. After receiving the report of the burglary, NPAS located the vehicle in Rhymney and guided officers in to stop the vehicle and arrest the two occupants. A thorough investigation by Swansea CID has resulted in both Anthony Williams and Bobbie Kittle being rightly jailed.”

At Swansea Crown Court, Kittle was sentenced to 24 months in prison after pleading guilty to burglary and aggravated taking without consent (TWOC). Williams, who was driving the stolen vehicle, received a 42-month sentence after admitting to burglary, TWOC, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.

Observers in court noted a surreal moment as the pair exchanged heart-shaped hand gestures toward each other before being led away by security.

Yesterday evening was Mati's holiday orchestra concert (he did well!).

Another of the school orchestras played this piece, which was entirely new to me and which I really liked - I don't have the school recording yet, but here is a different orchestra performing it:
