At today's #Tipaccs @OceanIceEU policy meeting, on #Antarctica and #TippingPoints, @nicojourd made a similar point to mine: the #RossIceShelf is the same size as the #NorthSea, predicting #iceShelf melt rates at the grounding line from an ocean point is like predicting ocean temperatures in Denmark with observations from the Atlantic. Attached: 1 image I often say that Antarctica is really big - and one of the reasons that it's quite hard to work out what is going on is the sheer size as well as lack of observations.
