Absolutely fascinating first session talks at #TDC23 conference. Particularly Andrew taking about cosmology and simulation and particularly his rebuttal of the idea that we live in one. I’ve bought his book The Universe in a Box.
‘In the context of LLMs, “hallucination” refers to a phenomenon where the model generates text that is incorrect, nonsensical, or not real.’
The Boris Johnson problem is that the LLMs present this completely confidently and convincingly with no ability to judge its veracity.
The speaker wasn't sure why presenting utter bollocks as if it is true with bluster got this nickname based on a former prime minister.
