Moreover, a random thing I learnt on the #SydtoMelTrip: sidewalk parking is legal not only in #Melbourne CBD, but in the entire #Victoria! (unless signed otherwise)

We stopped in Ballarat, VIC and for a while looked for free parking around the town centre. The council page didn't mention anything about motorcycles. Then we looked at Vicroads page, and voila: https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/safety-and-road-rules/road-rules/a-to-z-of-road-rules/motorcycles

We avoided highways (with A39 being the most obvious choice) and focused on less used roads between smaller towns. From Cobram we travelled to Berrigan, then to Urana, then to Lockhart before returning on a highway. Can highly recommend these specific roads, or taking more local roads in general. As long as you remember that the road surface may not be ideal, they should be quite fun.

And here's a photo of a local tourist attraction in Urana #NSW.

And day seven of the #SydtoMelTrip would have been the most uneventful, save for two things. We left Shepparton, VIC and crossed the state border in Cobram. Bye #Victoria, it was so good to ride through you!

The first thing worth mentioning: turns out #NSW can properly greet the visitors! So it seems it's only the A1 border which is unfriendly.

And another Melbournian achievement unlocked: I did my first hook turn! It's a #Melbourne only thing, where, on some specific crossings, if you want to turn right you go on the left lane to the crossing street, and position yourself in front of vehicles there. And then you go when the light turns green.

Wiki describes it better: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hook_turn

The coffee snob in me was very pleased with a cup of coffee from Little Rogue, recommended by a friend. Perfectly balanced flavour, and one of the smoothest textures I ever had.

That, and also pretty much everyone knowing what "magic coffee" is. Hardly anyone heard about it in #Sydney yet from my casual asking.

And today's day four of the #SydtoMelTrip: the resting day in #Melbourne!

My mind exploded when I learnt that you can legally park #motorbikes on the sidewalk. Holy cow, I wish #Sydney was this cool towards riders. (Probably not enough space there... but enough for those giant QMS ad screens I guess.)

On the way from #Traralgon, VIC to Melbourne we passed a super nice vantage point called Lancey's Lookout. It was a few kilometres of gravel road to get there, but it was absolutely worth it. Regional Australia, you beauty!

Day three of the #SydtoMelTrip ended yesterday with us arriving in #Melbourne and going to sleep early. The first day's exhaustion was still there.

Total distance made so far: 1089 kilometres 🤘

When you enter #Victoria from #NSW on A1, this happy and welcoming sign greets you. Yay!

On the other hand if you go the other way, the first sign you see in NSW is, uhhh, "this is a police state, fines apply" 😅

#NSW - #Victoria border stone! We're almost halfway through the first part of the trip. 511km more to #Melbourne, but that'll happen tomorrow.
